Grade “CE” is a course weave cotton fabric base phenolic laminate with greater mechanical strength than Grade XX or Grade XXX. Grade CE is strong, tough, and has high impact strength. It is similar to Grade “C” with improved moisture resistance and electrical properties. Its mechanical properties are equivalent to Grade “C”. Canvas-based phenolics are available in a variety of sheet, rod, and tube sizes.

Canvas-based phenolics are used for structural supports, piston rings, gears, spacers, and bearing surfaces. It machines readily, and is excellent for a variety of mechanical applications such as gears, pulleys, sheaves, insulators, bushings, washers, and rollers.
